What a payment link is

A payment link is a web address issued through a payment provider that asks a customer to pay a stated amount against a stated reference, using their card on the provider's hosted page. The business does not handle card details and does not need a full ecommerce checkout. Because the customer is not present, the transaction is card-not-present and is treated differently from a payment at a terminal.
